More than a thousand houseboats ply the backwaters around Alappuzha, so choosing one can feel overwhelming. Here is what really matters.
Category
Deluxe boats are clean and comfortable with AC at night. Premium boats add better furnishings and full-time AC. Luxury and ultra luxury boats offer glass-covered lounges, larger cabins and premium bathrooms.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom sleeps two adults, with space for a child. Groups of ten or more often choose a single large boat of five to fourteen bedrooms so everyone stays together.
Route
Boats from Punnamada head out across Vembanad Lake, while Kainakary and Nedumudi boats explore narrower village canals. Ask for the route if you prefer quiet waterways.
Timings
Check-in is at 12 noon and check-out is at 9 am. Cruising stops at 5:30 pm by law and the boat anchors for the night.
